Hello from February 👋🏼
Have your “New Year, New Me” feelings and motivations worn off yet? Mine haven’t – wanna know why? Because I’m still adding to my list 🤪 and I will keep adding, deleting, changing and checking them off all year long. I think so many of us lose sight of our goals throughout the year because we have such an all or nothing mentality about things, which is something I am working on personally.
At the end of 2022, I started my list of 2023 goals and a list for my 2023 monthly recap – at the end or during each month, I write down the best and the worst thing that happened each month; that way, at the end of the year, I have a short and sweet little review of my year. This also helps me keep my goals in mind each month since occasionally, the best thing to happen during the month was achieving a goal from my list🙂 And guess what? 2023 was the first year I actually paid attention to my goals throughout the whole year. So of course I did it again in 2024, plus my girlfriends and I added in the fun of our Bingo Cards, and as you already know, we did it again for 2025. Now, looking back, I am so proud of myself over the last 2 years because I was actually consistent with things which is something I know I will always struggle with (it’s just my brain chemistry🤷🏼♀️).
Woooooo, what a long winded intro to 2025’s goals.. sorry, please proceed below!
We are saving the planet this year, y’all; or, at least we’re attempting too. I always make lots of goals for myself each new year but I try to be mindful about making them achievable and sustainable. This year, one of my biggest/favorite goals is to buy less *new* stuff – also to buy less stuff in general but remember I said “achievable and sustainable” and shopping is one of my favorite pastimes. Anywayyyyyys, the way I plan to achieve this goal is to thrift shop till I drop; I love a Goodwill and a Salvation Army so this goal is a no brainer for me. The sister goal to this is to buy less online and more in store; i.e. less random Amazon purchases for things I can find in stores near me – this will hopefully help our local economy while also *insert foreshadowing* reducing waste (cardboard boxes, packing materials and gas for the delivery trucks).
One of my other goals is to reduce waste (^^ told you) – think less plastic and especially plastic bags. I don’t know about you but I have approximately 40 reusable bags and I always seem to forget them at home, but not in 2025! I have stocked my car with them and I have them hanging from my coat rack by the door so I can grab them on my way out. I also stopped buying single use plates/cups/cutlery for parties and am trying to figure out a sustainable way for my household to cut back on paper towels/napkins and tissues. < this last one is a bit trickier for my family, so drop any suggestions you have in the comments – but also, I’ve tried the “Papaya” paper towel replacement cloth things and can’t say I’m a huge fan. I will also try to find little ways to reuse stuff I’ve already bought like candle and condiment jars.
Both of those are pretty long term goals/changes that I want to make and the best way to do that is one step at a time! Aside from those bigger goals, I also set some fun little goals for myself too because I want to succeed, duh. So here’s my list of other goals:
- Write in the blog (woohoo!)
- Organize my clothes into an app (taking pictures of them so I can create outfits like Cher in Clueless 💁🏼♀️)
- Subgoal here – giveaway items I’m no longer wearing
- Make Tres Leches (it’s actually cooling on my counter now before I add the milks so almost a ✅)
- ABC’s of dates with my husband (we created a list of dates with each one corresponding with a letter of the alphabet, i.e. dueling piano bar, escape room, farmers market, etc.)
- Learn more Spanish – I paid for Babbel for a year so hopefully I don’t waste my money 🥴
- Print more pictures – I bought a cutie photo album at the thrift store the other week and added this as a goal so it wouldn’t sit empty on my bookshelf forever
- Walk 500 miles (yes, I know.. you’re singing the song in your head – me too)
- Side note: this has to be intentional walking, not just everyday steps. I’m tracking it with my Apple Watch and activity app so any “indoor/outdoor walks” are the only miles that count. This is roughly 42 miles per month and I’m already behind having only walked 25.3 miles in January😵💫
I’m actually super excited about my goals for this year, which I can only assume will help keep me motivated! I would love to hear about your goals for 2025 and any tips/tricks you have for achieving them in the comments 🙂
Talk to y’all soon
Xoxo, CK
